"When they (Army officials) came to our door my wife didn't want them to come in. She said he (James) was home. There was no reason for them to come in," McDonald said.

McDonald's funeral was held in Neenah on Tuesday.

James McDonald, who had been in the military five years, received several awards, including the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
