Chuck Todd and cynicism...

By now everyone this side of Oswego county NY knows about the "Fizzle in Philly." The last debate of the primary season between Barack and Hillary.
So, after looking around at the various reviews and rewatching this boring exercise in flabby, yet vacuous, nothingness called the ABC Debate on the TiVo, I'd like to add my two cents.
I looked at the clip sites and the response was negative...I mean like General McAuliff at "The Bulge" negative...strictly negative. So, I looked at winger world, and found only Jonah Goldberg, of all people, had said anything about this inane, issue-free, hoot in Philadelphia as pertains to the lack of any real substance. Let's jump and continue this below...
So, I went over to MSNBC to catch up on the news and Keith had Chuck Todd out there explaining and in some ways justifying the appalling nature of the early parts of the debate.
Todd attempted to cover for Gibson and Snuffleupagus by his referral to "you know we've been out there...they had 90 minutes to fill." to paraphrase.
I don't think I have ever heard a more cynical, stick-up-for-the-fellow news-man, excuse like that in awhile...a long while. Did anyone see the clip of Todd smiling at Keith's crack about the NFL moving back to Los Angeles, only to see Todd's face darken at the litany of issue omissions, some of them damning as I see it, and then Todd goes into his defense of George and Charlie's debate/shirt-and-tie "Jackie and Dunlap" schtick...which they botched.
There was no substance. Issues about personal attack and wrapping the Democrats up in discussions about a radical group that imploded in 1971 was downright silly.
If Obama has to face such questions out in the main election fight, then the Republicans are far sicker than we have been led to believe and they are incredibly weak. Dear God, did you see how the Heminway's and Podhoretz's and Rubin's all gushed over the tripe questions while the audience booed?
Touched on issues? Really...? There wasn't much time to discuss that when the candidates were locked up in silliness over Ayers, and the continuing stupidity about Wright.
I am now convinced that if anyone has to sell Obama, it MUST, absolutely must be us. We cannot rely on the domestic news and networks for anything honest or fair. We have to do it ourselves. Because after last night, any credibility the mainstream, traditional media outlet ABC had was thrown to the wind.
Thank you for stopping by and have a good day.
