As an HRC supporter and basher of some Obama supporters around here (but not an Obama basher), I'm certain that this diary will be labeled concern trolling or something. However, it is important that Democrats be prepared for what is coming down the pipeline at our candidate, which at this point appears is going to be Barack Obama.
I am jewish and live in a large but close jewish community in suburban Michigan. In other words, there are thousands of us, and whenever we meet someone, we play and win the game of jewish geography. If you don't know what jewish geography is, it basically means saying "do you know so and so" until the person you just met says "oh, sure". It usually doesn't take long to connect the dots to any stranger you meet.
Anyway, follow me over the fold to see what hit my inbox today.
As detailed on 60 Minutes, former Alabama governor, Don Siegelman, is languishing in federal prison for the crime of being a Democrat that kept winning in an otherwise Republican state.
Is he the only one?
Well, do you remember Geoffrey Fieger, of Jack ("Dr. Death") Kevorkian fame? Turns out the "trial lawyer" is a John Edwards supporter, who may be joining Mr. Siegelman for handball in the prison yard. Follow me over the fold to find out why.
Today's Chicago Tribune provided fodder for a discussion that has been going on in Daily Kos land lately, regarding the quality of political discourse around here lately, as it relates to all things Hillary Clinton vs. all things Barack Obama.
Follow me over the fold to see what Barack did wrong, and into the comments and Recommendations of this diary to see if he is taken to account for it the same way Hillary and Bill have been in the past and would have been if they had done this bad act, or if his poor conduct will be condoned by Obama supporters.
I've been given crap recently about using the term Obamaniacs to describe the typical Daily Kos user latey, and even had comments hidden on the sole grounds that the term "Obamania" is somehow insulting.
Well, follow me over the fold to see what the mainstream media thinks about the typical Daily Kos member these days.
Looks like Barack Obama's campaign machine is getting its superdelegates, i.e. party insiders, to soften you and I up, before they run roughshod over democracy at the Convention.
This morning, we had a superdelegate from Ohio appearing on CNN with John Roberts, at which point he made it abundantly clear that he's fully prepared to ignore voters and trample democracy - as long as that lets him help Obama steal the nomination. In my upcoming speech, Some Obamaniacs Can Be Hypocritical Some Of The Time, I trace the ugly history of superdelegates - and how they were set up precisely to stop popular uprisings like the Hillary Clinton campaign.
As most of you are aware, the National Journal recently touted Barack Obama as the most liberal member of the Senate.
Well, Mother Jones has dug a bit deeper into the voting records of members of the Senate, and concluded that the National Journal is dead wrong, and that Obama is NOT the most liberal Senator.
Regardless, the conclusion was still that he is the best candidate. Follow me over the fold to see their analysis.
Well, well, well. First, Hillary LIES. Then, her husband LIES. Then, they DESTROYED THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY in their zeal to regain the White House.
Now, things have gone too far. It has been discovered that one of our own Democratic frontrunners called Donald Rumsfeld a "mainstream" American, and applauded most of George W. Bush's other appointments.
Follow me over the fold for the details.
Since all it takes to be a superstar diarist, riding high on the Rec list, is a diary with no independent thought, simply quoting a Hillary hit piece written by someone else, I figured I'd give it a shot.
Follow me over the fold to witness my transformation to a rich, famous, glamorous, and special Recommended diarist on Daily Kos.
This diary is in keeping with the theme of today's recommended diaries, such as the following gems:
Hillary Clinton to Howard Dean: Screw You
John Kerry: Bill Clinton "Abuser of the Truth"
and my ultimate favorite:
Breaking News: Clinton caught in Rezko Lie!
In that vein, I bring you news that the Obama staff has caused Clinton supporters James Carville and Paul Begala to be barred from any further coverage of POTUS 2008. Check below the fold to see how Barack and Michelle Obama have destroyed the Democratic Party that I love so dearly.
Wow. Did you know that Barack Obama not only attended a madrassa... but a madrassa that teaches the radical, jihad loving, wahabi style of islam?
If not, follow me over the fold for a little edification.
Standard caveat: This will be a relatively short diary.
This memo to Alberto Gonzales was drafted by Deputy Assistant Attorney General, John Yoo, in order to pave the way for the United States to torture brown people, in order to scare white people into voting for republicans.
In speaking about the now infamous memo, Yoo once told an interviewer this gem:
Cassel: If the President deems that he’s got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person's child, there is no law that can stop him?
Yoo: No treaty.
Cassel: Also no law by Congress. That is what you wrote in the August 2002 memo.
Yoo: I think it depends on why the President thinks he needs to do that.
I know what you're thinking. Surely, no one actually followed the advice of our esteemed Deputy Assistant Attorney General, right?
Well, follow me over the fold, if you've got the balls to handle the truth, that is.
My catch phrase: This will be a short diary.
I grew up in a great neighborhood. A subdivision built between 1968 and 1971 - before developers realized how much money they could make if they filled the entire subdivision with houses. My subdivision has a world class elementary school smack dab in the middle of it. We have six different parks, with baseball diamonds, swingsets, slides, monkey bars, and other rides. We have bike paths all throughout, connecting all six parks. There are forests of trees to climb. We even built a tree fort in the forest when I was a kid. There were Fourth of July parties with firetrucks leading children in bike parades, dunking booths, moon walks, face painting, free food and drink etc. There were enchanted forest hikes before Halloween, and lots of other good stuff throughout the year.
I recently moved back into my old subdivision, to give my son the same quality of life I had.
So far, its been great. Nowadays, we even have a Google group for subdivision residents to email each other about missing car keys, the wild turkey people have been sighting at different times, etc.
Today, I got an interesting email from the Google group. Follow me over the fold to see what's going on in Suburbia.
The AP is reporting that diplomats are upset that they are being sent to Iraq.
As you can see from the article excerpted below, diplomats typically get to choose their own assignments, and are not forced into going anywhere they don't want to go. In fact, the only time we forced our diplomats to go places they didn't want to go was during the Vietnam War.
Did the title of the diary get your attention?
I thought so.
You know what's been getting my attention lately? The ability of the Republican minority to embarrass the Democratic majority on a daily basis, while continuing to exert total control over Congress.
In fact, it has grown so bad that many of us are left wondering if the Democrats are tanking on purpose - if they are simply the equivalent of the Washington Generals to the Republicans' Globetrotters - existing solely to create the impression of competition in what is in reality a fixed game.
How did we get this impression? Are we paranoid? Are we wearing tinfoil hats? Or is it that we are students of current events, and we are simply learning what they are teaching us?
Follow me over the fold to explore the differences in the way these two parties operate.
Caveat: This will be a short diary (I think that's becoming my catch-phrase).
The first news I learned from browsing the internet this morning was that two of the seven soldiers who penned the Op-Ed in the New York Times that was critical of the occupation of Iraq have died.
In fact, it may have been three of them, depending on how you read separate news reports that one of them was previously shot in the head, in connection with reports that one of the two who died yesterday was mourning the loss of a friend who was shot in the head and died as a result of his wounds.
He eventually redeployed, and in August saw another friend shot in the head, a wound that later killed him, the Capetillos said.
One would think that even if CNN was unaware of the story this morning, by the end of the day the story would be the big front-page lead story.
Follow me over the fold to "keep them honest".
If you haven't heard by now, the corporate media is blaming consumers for lead-based paint in children's toys.
Take it from market expert (i.e. pretty telepromter reader), Erin Burnett:
Burnett said on the August 10th Hardball, "You know, if China were to revalue its currency or China is to start making, say, toys that don't have lead in them or food that isn't poisonous, their costs of production are going to go up, and that means prices at Wal-Mart here in the United States are going to go up, too. So I would say China is our greatest friend right now."
But there's great news. Apparently, she clarified those aweful statements. Follow me over the fold to see how our little vixen kissed and made up with us dirty consumers. In fact, I'm sure that after a ton of criticism and a week of preparation, she'll recover wonderfully and win back our hearts.
Warning: This will be an extremely short diary.
CNN is at it again.
I'm sure we all remember the extremely important, must be page one material, CNN.com Politics Section article, in which CNN felt compelled to scream to the world that Hillary Clinton got the ever-so-important endorsement of... Heidi Fleiss?!?!?!
Well, as I stated, CNN is at it again.
Why don't you follow me over the fold for CNN's latest and greatest, ever-so-important Page 1 Democratic candidate endorsement article.
