They're attempting Purple Band-Aid 2.0 at their convention this year. We knew they would. Class in the conservative world is always spelled with a "k". However, the choice they've made is less anger-inducing and in fact, quite silly and open to satire.
Clever ideas for the use of this item by Republicans spring to mind quite easily. I would like to hear what you think conservatives should do with these (keep it clean!)
Here is one way to turn this thing around on them. What are some others?
This got me thinking about how this cavalier, haughty, high-handed, imperious, self-important, lordly, overweening, pompous, presumptuous, pretentious, supercilious, superior, and uppity statement has largely been ignored by the media.
To refresh your memory:
So I thought I would help them out. If they get a chance, here are some war-winning and war-winning-related queries all laid out for them to choose from:
Anyone who has seen the photos of Obama's speech is left wondering - how in the world do CNN and MSNBC keep guestimating the numbers at 'around 100,000'?
It looks like a heck of a lot more than that to me.
So I did a quick Google search for articles about Obama's speech in German newspapers... and guess what?
In 2003 WWII Veteran Terrell Dotson owed CA $546 in taxes and lost his condo.
That was four tax years ago. They auctioned it off without notifying him.
John and Cindy McCain didn't pay their taxes in California about that same time.
... and again the following year.
... and again the following year.
... and again the following year.
Then they get to send a check and be done with it? I think we need to contact Terrell and have him tell his story, don't you?
Hilary Rosen graciously voices her disapproval of Hillary Clinton claiming sole dominion over the votes of 18 million people.
In her blog over at the Huffington Post she voices her pride in Clinton's run, and her disappointment in her speech last night.
I am proud of her, and I can't help but feel that there are likely many other Democrats who feel this way. Her blog is so important right now. It is healing, and very much needed today so we can all move on.
But it has remained on my mind as I think about this election today. It is the story of a volunteer, doing what she could to make sure everyone who wanted to vote for Barack was able to. I can't help but compare this tale, one that has probably been repeated dozens of times this primary cycle, with the stories I remember of the forgotten in the poorer neighborhoods in New Orleans after Katrina.
Barack Obama and Yael flooded that Section 8 housing area with Hope. The tone of daily life, people's mistrust of each other was altered, at least for a day. But that one day - that bit of dropped veil - can show people how much they have in common, how good it feels to work with people unlike you towards a common goal. That day can bring another, and another.
It brings tears to my eyes every time I re-read it, even a day later.
I just thought it was so beautiful I had to share.
I remember clearly, the day after Senator Clinton spoke of how "proud" she was to share the dais with Senator Obama, how things changed.
She was "angry" and "upset" at an Obama mailer and her wrath was mighty, "Shame on you, Barack Obama" she cried. (at least she didn't add Hussein to his name.)
Well today, the tables were turned, and for the first time, Senator Obama directly attacked Senator Clinton (not her campaign), comparing her to Annie Oakley and tossing her own words back to her.
As much as I used to love, and happily spin for the Big Dog, and as much as I want Obama to put this thing away as quickly as possible, I can't help but wonder about Bill's blunders lately.
Senator Clinton suggested yesterday, that she would have left the Church of Rev. Wright the minute she heard anything controversial. Because apparently, she is so high-minded that her righteous indignation would have lifted her out of the pew on its own, and carried her out the doors of the church.
"You can't choose your family, but you can choose your Pastor." She said.
Which would fairly call into questions choices that she has made and how she has reacted to controversial speakers.
Remember the Republican Party? Those elephants in the room?
Well, it seems like they've got some interesting stuff in the news, too. A few things y'all might find interesting. They could just be sitting back, watching us rip our party apart, but instead choose to join the party!
Donate any amount with and extra .17 attached to show your love for Barach O'bama. After the week our great candidate has had, your love will feel all the sweeter. Another top fundraising month will turn his opponents green with envy.
Tired of being dogged by the media on this issue, Senator Clinton's campaign has released the following timeline on TaxReturnGate.
In a statement that preceded the release, the Presidential hopeful requested that the inquisitive media finally stop pestering her and her supporters with questions regarding what she might be trying to hide in these documents.
John McCain is already using Hillary's Obama-bashing in his campaigning. Hillary is (again) floating the possibility of strong-arming Obama's pledged delegates. Senator Clinton is also hoping that she can out fundraise Obama this month, thereby holding off some Superdelegate announcements for Obama. So...
It just might be time to line Senator Obama's coffers some more. But I need help. How does one go about setting up a money bomb?
If you agree, we need to choose a date and an amount (maybe $20.25 for the delegate count?) and possibly on a Friday (payday!)
My state has reached a new low. And down here, thats a tough thing to do.
Some Florida Democrats are (really!) considering a law that would make it illegal to put our candidate's name on the ballot if the Florida delegates are not seated at the convention.
Can you imagine that? All the whining about disenfranchisement, and not only are they willing to participate in this year's 'rip the party apart, scorched earth policy' of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, but think that not letting Democrats vote for a Democratic President is somehow the bee's knees.
- I hire people who have proven exceedingly loyal to me, over people who are qualified.
- My surrogates pretend that small offenses are outrageous, thereby forcing good Democrats to apologize or resign for no reason.
- I fully embrace the politics of "fear and smear", while imploring the other side to elevate the dialogue.
- I must tear down the opposition in the Primary even if it tears the party apart.
- I harass the press relentlessly, calling for the heads of reporters, until they are afraid to report anything negative about me.
- My main claim to fame is being related to a former President.
It was noted last month that Obama picked up another delegate in CA-53. At the time, I wondered what the final count would end up being. After reading this a little while ago, I decided to check up and see what the outcome was.
The results were Certified on Tuesday (how perfect was that) After seeing the results, I wish it would have gotten a little coverage - what fun this could have added to the Election Night festivities.
As they discussed the importance of every little delegate, the fact that there was some movement in California's math seems would have added to their big "BREAKING NEWS!" fun. The original election night numbers were 163 for Senator Obama and 207 for Senator Clinton.
