How will you spend your check?

Wed Apr 30, 2008 at 11:21:23 AM PDT

Yesterday I got an email from Sen. Patty Murray

Stimulus Checks: Ensuring that Our State's Residents Receive the Financial Help Congress has Approved

This week the federal government will begin to distribute the Economic Stimulus checks that Congress recently approved. The checks will go to hundreds of millions of households in order to give them extra income to spend during these difficult financial times. I know that with the price of gas at the pump and food at the super market continuing to rise, these checks can't come too soon for families across our state.

I began thinking how people might be spending those checks..for fun, for necessities?

It is $300 in my case. Mine is going directly to the anesthesiologist for my foot surgery, a bill that is 3 months late.

Randi Rhodes suspended from Air America

Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 01:24:30 PM PDT

This news is appearing over at Liberal Talk Radio's website:

Randi Rhodes has been suspended:

Following the attention given toward a video of a recent profanity-laced live appearance, Radio and Records is reporting that Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for inappropriate statements she made about prominent figures. At an appearance on behalf of the network and Clear Channel talk KKGN (960 AM) in San Francisco, Rhodes used aggressive language to describe both Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro, calling each of them a "fu&*ing whore."

The kids are for Obama

Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 12:28:32 PM PDT

Even after almost 30  years of teaching, I try to make learning authentic and current for all my kids. I am a librarian in a medium sized school, and, being addicted to politics, I thought I would let my students participate in the voting process. So today, I worked with 4th, 5th and 6th grade students as each class came in for their library lesson.

Freeperland is Depressed!

Fri Jan 04, 2008 at 10:05:41 AM PDT

I received several emails last night and this morning from friends and family who are worried that Gov. Huckabee might end up as the GOP nominee in November. They are having flashbacks to all the times when the Religious Right appeared to have the power to be King Makers.

Personally, I think Huckabee would be the perfect target for ANY of our Democratic candidates. So I decided to do some investigation this morning into the dark recesses in the Land of Morans---Free Republic.com

Seattle Times endorses Mike! McGavick

Sun Oct 22, 2006 at 08:56:07 AM PDT

After the Seattle Times, and its publisher, Frank Blethens, endorsed Dave "The Hair" Reichert, it is no surprise that they would also endorse Mike! McGavick over Maria Cantwell.

The Times is known for being much more conservative than the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and Blevens is particularly a Big Business Conservative. Only Frank could see " sacrificing some jobs to save a few" as a good thing, considering the fortunes of Safeco Insurance were not turned around.

As the Times points out all the ways that McGavick is similar to Maria, she is criticized for not showing leadership, while McGavick is painted as a Big Business saint

My mom is currently in remission from Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Over the course of the last year we have read everything we could get our hands on and are encouraged by the progress that has been made against this horrible disease. There is something YOU can do to help find a cure.

Disabled woman hassled by car dealership

Thu Aug 03, 2006 at 08:52:52 AM PDT

I got an email from a friend yesterday. His good friend,  who is handicapped and relies on her car to get around and for her real estate job, has been having a rash of problems with a car dealership in Spokane, WA.

When she bought her new Infinity, she was told by the dealer that if it ever needed work, they would provide her with a loaner to drive until hers was fixed. She lives 190 miles away in Wenatchee and they assured her this would be no problem.

What she has found out has been a totally different story.

Teenager chooses herbs over chemo

Sun Jul 23, 2006 at 11:43:33 AM PDT

I have shared on here that my mother, who was diagnosed in September with Mantle Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, is now in remission, thanks to her fighting spirit and the work of her miraculous oncologist.
If the cancer returns, my mother fully intends to fight it once again because she isnt through living yet!

Last night on the news, I heard about Starchild Abraham Cherrix, whose parents have allowed him to quit chemotherapy in favor of herbs and an organic diet. Below is an excerpt from an AP report:
