The carefully crafted message from your much vaunted campaign machine, and you for that matter, is that you really don't give a shit about the two thirds us Americans who have opted to cast our lot with a different candidate. In twenty three out of thirty four states Americans have overwhelmingly spoken up to renounce the old ways of doing politics in favor of something new that is inclusive, ambitious, and yearned for by millions.
Instead of acknowledging that fact, and honoring those millions of dreams by reaching out to them, your response thus far has been to belittle and denigrate them. Nice job Senator.
I have a tip for you. When looking to build a lasting relationship with someone who isn't initially thrilled by the prospect of that relationship, you need to find out what that hesitation is about, If of course you are serious about them and the relationship. Statements like " I hear your passion and longing for change loud and clear, what can I do to assure you I am the person who can best help you get there?" That would be a good start.
It would show that you actually cared about what they thought, how they felt, and were willing to show up for a few dates before we did the deed. Of course I mean voting.
The last response you should give them after sensing their hesitation is the old "whatever, bite me", routine
and then move on to the next set of prospective lovers as if the whole relationship proposal was just a cruel joke in the first place designed only to get a quick one night stand in the quest to boink the most voters possible and in turn acquire the most bling delegates.
Guess what, it isn't working.
Most of us have faced enough of that kind of rejection in our lives that even when it isn't us getting kicked to the curb like a worn out tramp looking for just a tiny bit of respect, that it is nonetheless unpleasant to witness and makes us think twice, maybe thrice, before accepting a proposal from somebody prone to telling others to fuck off get lost the second their demands aren't met.
Do me a favor and rethink your attitude because that deep yearning for change all across America, the kind that has brought millions of new faces to the political process, won't be inspired to participate by the "whatever, no biggee" rhetoric we keep hearing. I, we, are not insignificant, and if you don't change your tune should you become the nominee, McCain will beat you like a rented mule in the general elections because nothing turns off voters more than arrogance.
I haven't written a single candidate diary yet and am not one who goes through life looking for ways to be offended but this nonsense coming from the Clinton campaign is getting out of hand.
If their attitude is actual thought out strategy then we are in for a world of hurt in the coming months.
